A Change is Coming

The Texas Bowl will make a major announcement regarding the future of the bowl game at a news conference scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m. CDT.
Executives from the Texas Bowl will be on hand, along with representatives from ESPN Regional Television and several VIP guests. ESPN Regional Television owns and operates the Texas Bowl, while Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and the Texas Bowl Committee manage the event.
About the Texas Bowl
The Texas Bowl has been a tremendous success both on and off the field over its first five years. The bowl has generated an average of $25 million per year for the Houston economy and has over 25,000 season ticket holders. The bowl is affiliated with the Big 12 and Big Ten conferences and holds the fifth pick among non-BCS bowls in each conference. The game has averaged over 62,000 fans in its five-year history, including a crowd of 68,211 for last year’s game between Baylor and Illinois. The Texas Bowl has donated over $300,000 and more than $5 million in promotional support and publicity to DePelchin Children’s Center, the bowl’s official charitable beneficiary.
ESPN Regional Television
The nation’s largest syndicator of collegiate sports programming, ESPN Regional Television (ERT) annually produces more than 1,000 telecasts of sporting events and holds ownership of several sporting events. ERT, based in Charlotte, N.C., is also the production headquarters for ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network and the syndication rights holder and producer of national, regional and local shows for college conferences (e.g. – BIG EAST, Big 12, Mid-American, SEC, WAC).
