Harris Named Player of the Week
★ posted on October 25, 2011
For one night, Wesley Harris was better than anyone’s ever been. Now, he’s etched in Texas high school football history.
Harris, the quarterback for the Southwest Raiders, threw for 550 yards and a state-record nine touchdowns in his team’s 66-21 victory over previously unbeaten Fort Worth Arlington Heights. He completed 20 of his 26 passes, including 10 passes to WR Robbie Rhodes, who set state records for single-game receiving yards (390) and single-game receiving touchdowns (8). Harris surpasses the mark of eight held by many Texas high school football legends, including Scotty Young and Drew Tate.
Congratulations to Wesley and to the Raiders on the award and the victory.
