Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas

Week 9 of the college football season saw history made on a snowy Saturday evening in State College, Pa., where Penn State rallied to beat Illinois 10-7. In the process, the Nittany Lions won for the 409th time under head coach Joe Paterno, breaking Eddie Robinson’s NCAA Division I record for career victories.

At least one major national prognosticator, ESPN.com’s Brad Edwards, sees the Nittany Lions ending up in the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas, while other projections have Illinois making a repeat trip to Houston or Ohio State and interim head coach Luke Fickell heading to the Bayou City.

The Big 12 saw another week of upsets as Texas Tech, fresh off its 41-38 win at Oklahoma, lost 41-7 to Iowa State and Texas A&M fell in overtime to Missouri, 38-31, at Kyle Field. The Red Raiders and Aggies will both be looking for their sixth wins on Saturday. Texas Tech travels to Austin to face Texas, which is also hoping to become bowl eligible, while A&M goes to Norman to face Oklahoma.

After nine weeks of play, there are six bowl-eligible teams in the Big Ten and three in the Big 12. Three other schools can garner their sixth wins of the season this Saturday. Following are some projected Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas matchups from selected national media outlets:
